Neem
Azadirachta indica
Neem essential oil is produced from pressing the seeds of the Neem tree, an evergreen native to the subcontinent India. It works as a non-toxic insect repellant due to the compound sallanin found in its leaves and seeds. Sallanin has been proven to be a safer and more effective insect repellant than DEET.
Neem provides protection from mosquitoes, biting flies, sand fleas and ticks. Like most organic pesticides, Neem essential oil interrupts the growth and reproduction stage of insects.
